Descriptions

Plexin cell surface receptors bind to semaphorin ligands and transduce signals for regulating neuronal axon guidance. In mouse Plexin-A3 (P70208), the autoinhibitory regions including an Rho GTPase-binding domain (RBD) and a segment preceding C1 domain make extensive interactions with the GAP domain (C1 and C2 domains), which may enable it to regulate the GAP conformation in response to semaphorin binding. According to human Plexin-A1 (Q9UIW2) study, the Sema domain in Plexin-A3 may be also involved in autoinhibition.
