Descriptions

PASK is PAS (Per-Arnt-Sim) domain-containing serine/threonine-protein kinase and is involved in energy homeostasis and regulation of protein synthesis. The N-terminal domain (PAS-A) directly inhibits its kinase domain, specifically the FG loop at residues 185-194. The FG loop directly binds the kinase domain, thus inhibiting its kinase activity. The binding of organic compounds to the hydrophobic core of PAS-A induces conformational changes and relieves the inhibition.

3 GO annotations of cellular component

Name Definition
cytoplasm The contents of a cell excluding the plasma membrane and nucleus, but including other subcellular structures.
cytosol The part of the cytoplasm that does not contain organelles but which does contain other particulate matter, such as protein complexes.
nucleus A membrane-bounded organelle of eukaryotic cells in which chromosomes are housed and replicated. In most cells, the nucleus contains all of the cell's chromosomes except the organellar chromosomes, and is the site of RNA synthesis and processing. In some species, or in specialized cell types, RNA metabolism or DNA replication may be absent.

4 GO annotations of molecular function

Name Definition
ATP binding Binding to ATP, adenosine 5'-triphosphate, a universally important coenzyme and enzyme regulator.
phosphatidylinositol binding Binding to an inositol-containing glycerophospholipid, i.e. phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns) and its phosphorylated derivatives.
protein serine kinase activity Catalysis of the reactions
protein serine/threonine kinase activity Catalysis of the reactions
