Descriptions

STK38L, called nuclear Dbf2-related kinase 2 (NDR2 protein kinase), is a subclass of the AGC family of protein kinases that are involved in the regulation of cell division and cell morphology. NDR kinase activity is regulated by phosphorylation and by the Ca2+-binding protein, S100B. According to a study with human NDR (Q15208), the N-terminal domain (265-276) of NDR reduced NDR kinase activity. The binding of human MOB1 to the N-terminal domain of NDR induces the release of autoinhibition.

4 GO annotations of cellular component

Name Definition
actin cytoskeleton The part of the cytoskeleton (the internal framework of a cell) composed of actin and associated proteins. Includes actin cytoskeleton-associated complexes.
cytoplasm The contents of a cell excluding the plasma membrane and nucleus, but including other subcellular structures.
cytosol The part of the cytoplasm that does not contain organelles but which does contain other particulate matter, such as protein complexes.
membrane A lipid bilayer along with all the proteins and protein complexes embedded in it an attached to it.

6 GO annotations of molecular function

Name Definition
actin binding Binding to monomeric or multimeric forms of actin, including actin filaments.
ATP binding Binding to ATP, adenosine 5'-triphosphate, a universally important coenzyme and enzyme regulator.
magnesium ion binding Binding to a magnesium (Mg) ion.
protein serine kinase activity Catalysis of the reactions: ATP + protein serine = ADP + protein serine phosphate.
protein serine/threonine kinase activity Catalysis of the reactions: ATP + protein serine = ADP + protein serine phosphate, and ATP + protein threonine = ADP + protein threonine phosphate.
protein serine/threonine/tyrosine kinase activity Catalysis of the reactions: ATP + a protein serine = ADP + protein serine phosphate; ATP + a protein threonine = ADP + protein threonine phosphate; and ATP + a protein tyrosine = ADP + protein tyrosine phosphate.

4 GO annotations of biological process

Name Definition
intracellular signal transduction The process in which a signal is passed on to downstream components within the cell, which become activated themselves to further propagate the signal and finally trigger a change in the function or state of the cell.
peptidyl-serine phosphorylation The phosphorylation of peptidyl-serine to form peptidyl-O-phospho-L-serine.
protein phosphorylation The process of introducing a phosphate group on to a protein.
regulation of cellular component organization Any process that modulates the frequency, rate or extent of a process involved in the formation, arrangement of constituent parts, or disassembly of cell structures, including the plasma membrane and any external encapsulating structures such as the cell wall and cell envelope.
