Descriptions

The cytosolic adaptors GGA1-3 mediate sorting of transmembrane proteins. GGA1 contains an autoinhibitory region that is activated by the phosphorylation of a serine positioned three residues upstream of the DXXLL motif. Autoinhibition is achieved by the interaction between DXXLL site and the VHS domain in CGGA1, and the phosphoserine upstream of the DXXLL motif facilitates this interaction.

4 GO annotations of cellular component

Name Definition
clathrin-coated vesicle A vesicle with a coat formed of clathrin connected to the membrane via one of the clathrin adaptor complexes.
early endosome membrane The lipid bilayer surrounding an early endosome.
Golgi apparatus A membrane-bound cytoplasmic organelle of the endomembrane system that further processes the core oligosaccharides (e.g. N-glycans) added to proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum and packages them into membrane-bound vesicles. The Golgi apparatus operates at the intersection of the secretory, lysosomal, and endocytic pathways.
trans-Golgi network The network of interconnected tubular and cisternal structures located within the Golgi apparatus on the side distal to the endoplasmic reticulum, from which secretory vesicles emerge. The trans-Golgi network is important in the later stages of protein secretion where it is thought to play a key role in the sorting and targeting of secreted proteins to the correct destination.

3 GO annotations of molecular function

Name Definition
phosphatidylinositol binding Binding to an inositol-containing glycerophospholipid, i.e. phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns) and its phosphorylated derivatives.
small GTPase binding Binding to a small monomeric GTPase.
ubiquitin binding Binding to ubiquitin, a protein that when covalently bound to other cellular proteins marks them for proteolytic degradation.

3 GO annotations of biological process

Name Definition
Golgi to plasma membrane protein transport The directed movement of proteins from the Golgi to the plasma membrane in transport vesicles that move from the trans-Golgi network to the plasma membrane.
intracellular protein transport The directed movement of proteins in a cell, including the movement of proteins between specific compartments or structures within a cell, such as organelles of a eukaryotic cell.
protein localization to cell surface A process in which a protein is transported to, or maintained in, a location within the external part of the cell wall and/or plasma membrane.
