Descriptions

MAPK1 encodes Mitogen-activated protein kinase 1, and is involved in diverse cellular responses by phosphorylating cytoplasmic and nuclear proteins. Unlike other MAP kinases, MAPK1 activates via dual phosphorylation of Thr-186 and Tyr-193 within the activation lip, and mutations at Q105 alone were sufficient for autoactivation. Additionally, in the inactive form, L76, Q10 and I87 form a structural unit that restrains intramolecular autophosphorylation by preventing interactions between activation lip residues and the catalytic base (D149) needed for phosphoryl transfer. Mutations at L76, I87 and additionally S153 increased basal specific activity via autophosphorylation of Thr-186 and Tyr-193.

2 GO annotations of cellular component

Name Definition
cell cortex The region of a cell that lies just beneath the plasma membrane and often, but not always, contains a network of actin filaments and associated proteins.
nucleus A membrane-bounded organelle of eukaryotic cells in which chromosomes are housed and replicated. In most cells, the nucleus contains all of the cell's chromosomes except the organellar chromosomes, and is the site of RNA synthesis and processing. In some species, or in specialized cell types, RNA metabolism or DNA replication may be absent.

4 GO annotations of molecular function

Name Definition
ATP binding Binding to ATP, adenosine 5'-triphosphate, a universally important coenzyme and enzyme regulator.
MAP kinase activity Catalysis of the reaction
protein kinase activity Catalysis of the phosphorylation of an amino acid residue in a protein, usually according to the reaction
protein serine kinase activity Catalysis of the reactions

19 GO annotations of biological process

Name Definition
abscisic acid-activated signaling pathway The series of molecular signals generated by the binding of the plant hormone abscisic acid (ABA) to a receptor, and ending with modulation of a cellular process, e.g. transcription.
camalexin biosynthetic process The chemical reactions and pathways resulting in the formation of camalexin, an indole phytoalexin.
inflorescence development The process whose specific outcome is the progression of an inflorescence over time, from its formation to the mature structure.
plant ovule development The process whose specific outcome is the progression of the ovule over time, from its formation to the mature structure. The ovule is the structure in seed plants enclosing the female gametophyte, and is composed of the nucellus, one or two integuments, and the funiculus; it develops into the seed.
plant-type hypersensitive response The rapid, localized death of plant cells in response to invasion by a pathogen.
pollen development The process whose specific outcome is the progression of the pollen grain over time, from its formation to the mature structure. The process begins with the meiosis of the microsporocyte to form four haploid microspores. The nucleus of each microspore then divides by mitosis to form a two-celled organism, the pollen grain, that contains a tube cell as well as a smaller generative cell. The pollen grain is surrounded by an elaborate cell wall. In some species, the generative cell immediately divides again to give a pair of sperm cells. In most flowering plants, however this division takes place later, in the tube that develops when a pollen grain germinates.
pollen tube guidance The process in which the growth of pollen tube is directed towards the female gametophyte.
pollen-pistil interaction The interaction between a pollen grain and pistil.
priming of cellular response to stress The process that enables cells to respond in a more rapid and robust manner than nonprimed cells to much lower levels of a stimulus indicating the organism is under stress.
protein phosphorylation The process of introducing a phosphate group on to a protein.
response to bacterium Any process that results in a change in state or activity of a cell or an organism (in terms of movement, secretion, enzyme production, gene expression, etc.) as a result of a stimulus from a bacterium.
response to chitin A process that results in a change in state or activity of a cell or an organism (in terms of movement, secretion, enzyme production, gene expression, etc.) as a result of a chitin stimulus.
response to cold Any process that results in a change in state or activity of a cell or an organism (in terms of movement, secretion, enzyme production, gene expression, etc.) as a result of a cold stimulus, a temperature stimulus below the optimal temperature for that organism.
response to freezing Any process that results in a change in state or activity of a cell or an organism (in terms of movement, secretion, enzyme production, gene expression, etc.) as a result of a freezing stimulus, temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius.
response to L-glutamate Any process that results in a change in state or activity of a cell or an organism (in terms of movement, secretion, enzyme production, gene expression, etc.) as a result of an L-glutamate stimulus.
response to osmotic stress Any process that results in a change in state or activity of a cell or an organism (in terms of movement, secretion, enzyme production, gene expression, etc.) as a result of a stimulus indicating an increase or decrease in the concentration of solutes outside the organism or cell.
response to oxidative stress Any process that results in a change in state or activity of a cell or an organism (in terms of movement, secretion, enzyme production, gene expression, etc.) as a result of oxidative stress, a state often resulting from exposure to high levels of reactive oxygen species, e.g. superoxide anions, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), and hydroxyl radicals.
response to UV-B Any process that results in a change in state or activity of a cell or an organism (in terms of movement, secretion, enzyme production, gene expression, etc.) as a result of a UV-B radiation stimulus. UV-B radiation (UV-B light) spans the wavelengths 280 to 315 nm.
