Descriptions

Acetyltransferase Pat is a single Gcn5-like enzyme, in which Gcn5-like PAT domain enables direct cAMP control of protein acetylation. The crystal structures of the autoinhibited and cAMP-activated Pat reveal that cAMP binds to a cryptic site in the regulatory domain. An extensive conformational rearrangement relieves the autoinhibition by means of a substrate-mimicking lid that covers the protein-substrate binding surface.

1 GO annotations of cellular component

Name Definition
cytosol The part of the cytoplasm that does not contain organelles but which does contain other particulate matter, such as protein complexes.

5 GO annotations of molecular function

Name Definition
acetyltransferase activity Catalysis of the transfer of an acetyl group to an acceptor molecule.
acyltransferase activity Catalysis of the transfer of an acyl group from one compound (donor) to another (acceptor).
cAMP binding Binding to cAMP, the nucleotide cyclic AMP (adenosine 3',5'-cyclophosphate).
DNA-binding transcription factor activity A transcription regulator activity that modulates transcription of gene sets via selective and non-covalent binding to a specific double-stranded genomic DNA sequence (sometimes referred to as a motif) within a cis-regulatory region. Regulatory regions include promoters (proximal and distal) and enhancers. Genes are transcriptional units, and include bacterial operons.
metal ion binding Binding to a metal ion.
